Practical Information

Resources.

Most of the questions we are asked at the counter have the same answer every time, and the answer is usually written on a government document that is hard to get hold of. This page collects those answers, and the documents behind them.

Costs

What you pay, and what you do not.

Every advertisement Montage publishes carries a cost-bearing table approved by the Department of Foreign Employment. It names each cost in the process and states, line by line, whether the worker or the employer carries it. The table below is that list, exactly as it appears on the notices currently published on this site.

Medical examination in Nepal and term life insurance are also worker-borne on these notices, and both are paid to the clinic and the insurer, not to us. Their price depends on the provider you use, so the notices do not print a figure and neither do we.

Our service charge is free

All three notices record Montage's service charge as निःशुल्क — free. You pay us nothing for placement. If a cost is not on the government table for the vacancy you applied for, you should not be paying it.

Nobody should ever ask you for these

  • A payment to secure an interview, a shortlisting, or a place on a list.
  • A payment in cash with no receipt, or a payment to a personal bank account or wallet.
  • Your passport handed over as security for a payment or a promise.
  • A different salary, employer, country or contract length from the one on the approved notice.

If anyone asks you for any of these in Montage's name, tell us. Our grievance channel goes to the office directly, and using it costs you nothing. Raise a grievance.

How To Read It

Reading a Nepali job notice.

A foreign-employment advertisement in Nepal is not marketing copy. It is a document the Department of Foreign Employment has approved against a demand letter from the employer, and every field on it means something specific. These are the fields you will see on each vacancy on this site.

See these fields on a real notice

Pre-approval date
The day the Department approved the employer's demand for workers. It is the start of the paperwork, not the interview, and it tells you how recent the demand is.
Chalani number
The Department's outgoing-registration number for that approval letter. It identifies the specific approval, and it is the number to quote if you ever need to check the notice against the Department's record.
Lot number
The number of the approved batch the vacancies sit in. One lot covers one approved demand from one employer, so it is the closest thing a notice has to a reference number.
Demand figures
The number of workers the employer asked for, listed as male and female. It restates what the employer requested and the Department approved — it is not a preference of ours, and it is not a limit on who may ask us for work.
Salary and its NPR equivalent
The monthly wage in the destination currency, with the rupee equivalent at the rate on the day the notice was drawn up. The foreign-currency figure is the one in your contract; the rupee figure moves with the exchange rate.
Food and accommodation
Stated separately, because they are separate obligations. A notice that provides accommodation but not food is telling you that meals come out of the wage above.
Contract period
The length of the employment contract in years, as approved. Renewal after it is a matter between you and the employer at that time.
Interview date and venue
The day the employer, or we on their behalf, interview candidates. Once that date has passed the notice is finished: it is a record of what was advertised, not an opening you can still apply for. Vacancies on this site say so plainly when that happens.
Licence number
The recruiting agency's licence from the Department of Foreign Employment. Ours is on every notice we publish, and on the licence certificate below.
Re-advertisement
A notice headed पुनः विज्ञापन is a repeat of an earlier advertisement for the same approved demand, usually because the first round did not fill it. The terms are the ones on the current notice.

Questions

Questions we are asked.

Answers to what people actually ask at the counter and on the phone. Where an answer depends on the country or the employer, we say so rather than giving you an average.

For applicants

Do I need an account on this website to apply?

No. Every vacancy can be applied for without an account, and you can always apply in person at the office or by phone. An account only saves your details and keeps a list of the vacancies you have saved and applied for.

What does Montage charge me?

Nothing for placement. The notices published on this site record our service charge as free. The costs you do carry are named on the notice for the vacancy you apply to, and they are paid to the clinic, the insurer or the government body concerned.

The interview date on a vacancy has passed. Can I still apply?

Not to that notice. Once the interview date has gone, the notice is closed, and we mark it closed here rather than leaving it looking open. Tell us what work you are looking for and we will contact you when an approved demand matches it.

What should I bring to an interview?

Your passport if you already hold one, any trade or skill certificates for the work advertised, and proof of previous experience if you have it. The notice states the minimum qualification for the role; anything beyond that is for the employer to ask about on the day.

How do I know a notice is genuine?

Every notice we publish carries a pre-approval date, a chalani number, a lot number and our licence number. The original scanned notice is attached to each vacancy on this site so you can read it yourself, in Nepali, exactly as it was published.

Something went wrong. Who do I tell?

Use the grievance channel on our contact page. It reaches the office directly, it costs nothing, and it applies whether the problem is with us, with a partner, or with someone using our name.

For employers

What do you need from us to begin?

A demand letter, a power of attorney, a guarantee letter and your employment terms, attested as your country requires. The exact checklist differs by destination, and the official checklist for each country we serve is published on that country's page and linked below.

How long does approval take?

It depends on your embassy's attestation queue and on the Department of Foreign Employment's processing at the time. We will not quote you a number we cannot stand behind; we will tell you where your file is at each stage.

Which countries can you recruit for?

Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman. Each destination page lists our partner employers there and the documents required for attestation.

How are candidates screened?

Against the approved demand: the trade, the minimum qualification on the notice, and the medical and documentary requirements for the destination. Interviews are held on the date published in the advertisement; the notices currently published here name our Kalanki office as the venue.

Are you licensed?

Yes. Montage Overseas Pvt. Ltd. holds licence 798/065/066 from Nepal's Department of Foreign Employment, valid to 16 July 2027. The certificate itself is downloadable below.

Documents

Every file here is the original, unedited. The notices are the Nepali advertisements as published; the checklists are the attestation spreadsheets as issued.
